About the Chinese Renminbi
Renminbi ↱ is the currency name China's national currency, which has the ISO code CNY and the currency sign ¥. The word Renminbi literally means 'people's currency'. The main base unit it the Yuan, and the word means 'round object' in Mandarin. One yuán (元) is divided into 10 jiǎo (角), which again is divided into fēn (分).
The Renminbi was introduced in 1948, replacing several currencies that were circulated in China, each with a different name, but all having their base unit name yuan.
Legal status of online gambling in China
All gambling activities in China are illegal. This includes land-based casinos and also online gambling. However, there are two state-run lotteries, and gambling in the special administrative regions of Macau and Hong Kong are permitted.
Macau is the world's largest gambling capital, and welcomes not only Chinese gamblers, but also players from other parts of Asia and the rest of the world.
However, although gambling is illegal, it doesn't mean that the Chinese don't gamble. The illegal gambling market is thriving, and problem gambling is an issue in the country. The lack of player protection, regulation and support for compulsive gamblers makes tackling the problem difficult. Illegal online gambling has also been on the rise, and players use VPNs to access illegal offshore pages to play casino games.
This page is aimed at players outside of China who wish to spend Yuan at online casinos and play at a licensed offshore casino. We don't recommend breaking any local laws.
Popular payment methods for players with Chinese Yuan
The payment methods at online casinos vary with operators, but also for countries. Depending on your country of residence the casino will offer you different payment methods for the casino deposit and withdrawal with yuan.
Most casinos accept credit cards like Visa or Mastercard, and e-wallets like Payz and Neteller, which also allow you to select CNY as an account currency. An e-wallet is a good alternative for fast deposits and withdrawals at online casinos.
There are also voucher payment methods, including Paysafecard, Neosurf, or Astropay, and some popular instant banking methods like Trustly, Klarna, Rapid Transfer or TrustPay.
You can find more casino payment methods in our payments overview, and the casinos that offer specific methods.
Safety of online gambling for players with Chinese Yuan
Online gambling can be a safe and fun activity, but you need to keep a few things in mind when selecting a casino. The most important is the license of the casino. Although most are licensed, there are differences in regulations, and some countries apply tougher gambling regulations than others.
A casino licensed by the MGA or UKGC has to follow stricter rules than a casino licensed in Curacao for example. These regulations include player protection laws, fair and tested games and anti-money laundering and fraud provisions.
Playing at a EU-licensed casino will mean that every player can enjoy a high level of protection and fair games, no matter where they are in the world.
However, the license is not the only indicator or a trustworthy operator, the reputation is important as well. Casinos recommended at CasinoDaemon.com have a good reputation with players and they are safe casinos to play with Yuan.

Most casinos support US Dollars and Euro for example, but you can also find casinos that support crypto currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin or Tether. Remember, that if you're playing at a casino with a different base currency of your account, then you'll have to pay conversion fees if you make a Yuan payment and it's converted into another currency. These charges are often hidden in the exchange rate of your bank.
